Noemia is back in the Amazon

Our friend and colleague Noemia Kazue Ishikawa has returned to INPA, the Center for Integrated Studies of Amazon Biodiversity, in Manaus, Brazil, after a six-month visit to our lab. Noemia is an expert on ethnomycology of the Yanomami people and an alumna of the Tottori Mycological Institute (where I completed my first post-doc in 1991-2). She has been instrumental in helping us acquire strains of Lentinula from Brazil for our ongoing project in comparative genomics of shiitake mushrooms. We look forward to continuing our collaboration for years to come.
