Plans for exhibits on fungal biology and decay at the Worcester EcoTarium are coming along nicely. Last summer, I reported on a “front-end evaluation”, which sought to assess baseline knowledge and questions about fungi among the visitors to the EcoTarium. During the fall and winter, the EcoTarium staff designed exhibits, and tested prototypes with visitors (see the images). All of this work will ensure that the finished product will be informative, educational, and fun (also durable and resilient). Development of these exhibits is supported as the “Broader Impacts” component of a project on genetics and evolution of wood decay supported by the National Science Foundation.
