What a cool workshop! This event was held Sept. 9-10 at the Natural History Museum in London, and brought together experts in paleobotany, fungal systematics and comparative genomics. Many thanks to local hosts Paul Kenrick and Christine Strullu-Derrien, as well as co-organizers Francis Martin and Marc-André Selosse, for convening this gathering (and the New Phytologist Trust for funding the venture). After the workshop I had the chance to poke around in the amazing paleobotanical collections of the NHM. The first photo shows the type specimen of Cooksonia pertoni, the first known vascular plant; the second photo needs no explanation.
