33rd New Phytologist Symposium, “Networks of Power and Influence”

33rd NPS Logo (Job025803) (CMYK Giant Poster Background)_resizedThis two-day meeting at the Agroscope in Zurich, supported by the New Phytologist Trust, focused on ecology, evolution and genomics of mycorrhizal fungi. I was particularly impressed with the elegant studies on arbsucular mycorrhizal fungi, particularly those focused on the conditions (biotic and abiotic) that cause these associations to shift along the mutualism-antagonism continuum (the conference poster, left, reflects the view of mycorrhizal symbioses as “mutualisms”.
